On human genome manipulation and Homo technicus: the legal treatment of non-natural human subjects

Although legal personality has slowly begun to be granted non-human entities that have a direct impact on the natural functioning of human societies (given their cultural significance), same cannot said for computer-based intelligence systems. While this notion not had significantly negative humanity point in time only remains case because advanced computerised systems (ACIS) been acknowledged as reaching human-like levels. With integration ACIS medical assistive technologies such companion robots and bionics, our treatment must also adapt—least society faces challenges may potentially lead legally sanctioned discriminatory treatment. For reason, article exposes complexity normalizing definitions “natural” subjects, clarifies how current bioethical discourse unable effectively guide into implanted external artefacts, argues establishment delineations between various ACIS-human mergers reference protections obligations internationally.
